(There's an arrow pointing to another line of text below that reads 'Storm Riders – The Fire Axes (4:00)') 4. Taking Back My Tears – Fantasy Realm (3:30) This is the second backup tape I've made. The first wouldn't play after being soaked. While re-recording, I swapped out one song on Side B that didn't fit. It had a weird beat, which messes up my breathing whenever I swung my axe to it. But switching it out left a little gap in the mixtape, and the total playtime went down by 22 seconds. It wasn't seamless anymore. While worrying about it, I heard the sound of someone practicing an instrument in the dorms. The sound of the metronome was really nice. So I pressed record in the hallway and filled those 22 seconds with the ticking of the metronome. I still don't know who was practicing that day, but I'm really grateful to them. I know how to write a lot of words now, so I can write all these things down. The nice lady in Medical also encouraged me to write my feelings down more often, but I don't know what words to use to capture my ever-changing mood. Just like how every tape has a side A and a side B, our feelings also have sides, and they're always pulsing and changing. I like the rhythm when my feelings pulse. Like a drumbeat. Like a metronome swinging from side to side. I like a calm rhythm when I'm alone, and an intense one when I'm on a mission. These rhythms are my own, and they won't ever end. There's no room left to write on this paper, so I'll leave it at that.
